Allegory of the Unseen

Artist Statement:

Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

“Allegory of the Unseen” is a triptych depicting the permanent effects left on the psyche after emotional/mentally abusive relationship. Through creating visible manifestations of these ‘tainted’ and manipulated thoughts, Heloise sought to illustrate the overwhelming impact this can have on the psyche. Embracing the aesthetic of the renaissance masters presents the timelessness of the issue, it is not new, and we must become more aware of the damaging effects of these mental scars. Through the use of self-portraiture, Heloise opens herself up to become a window into the world of a scared mind, bringing either awareness or acknowledgement to others on this topic.
